Jimmy ColemanMonday April 25, 2005 - Calabasas High School (Calabasas, California)  Week 7 of the 2005 GOT MILK? Gravity Tour brought us down south to the Los Angeles area. This is the only week of school shows in southern California on this year's tour. Monday's show was in Calabasas at Calabasas High School. We were originally supposed to set up in the quad. Showtime was during lunch in the front parking lot, and the students who came out were treated to quite a performance. We had a new addition to the tour today as well. Marco Desanti did his first show of the 2005 tour today, and he wasted no time in getting up to speed with the rest of the crew.

Tuesday April 26, 2005 - Glendale High School (Glendale, California)  Today's show was at Glendale Senior High School. Last time we were here was in September of 2003 on the final week of the GOT MILK? Gravity Tour that year. This school blew me away back then. At that time I told them that they were by far the best school I had ever done a show for. They were so good in fact that we still use pictures from that school to show other schools what our performances look like. Needless to say when I found out we were coming back to Glendale high, I was more than ready.

We set up in the same place on the track and had about 1200 kids in the bleachers and probably another 100 or so on the field side of the ramp. I had a lot of expectations about this show and the students did not let me down. We did a 30 minute show and then spent another 15 minutes doing anti-smoking trivia giveaways. I can't stress enough how awesome these kids and the school staff were. Because we anticipated a great show, we chose this school to have our OLN camera crew come out to film a segment for one of our TV shows this summer. It was another successful day on the tour and I look forward to our next appearance at Glendale High.

Wednesday April 27, 2005 - Burbank High School (Burbank, California)  Today's show was just down the road from Glendale at Burbank High. Burbank has a huge, modern looking campus. At first glance it looked like a college or a huge city library. We had an assembly on the football field today. The weather started to take a turn for the worse, looking like it might rain at any minute, but it managed to hold off long enough for us to do a 30 minute show and do some anti-smoking trivia giveaways. Gabe Weed mopped the ramp right before the show and then right as he was finished, the wind kicked up and blew dirt and sand all over the flatbottom. Despite the wind and dust blowing into everyone's eyes, it was still a great time and another successful show on the GOT MILK? Gravity Tour.

Thursday April 28, 2005 - Chatsworth High School (Chatsworth, California)  Today's show was at Chatsworth High. We had an early one today, two assemblies with the first at 9 AM. We visited the school last night and planned on setting up on the field, but due to the threat of rain, we decided to stay off of the field. We were pretty close to having to cancel, but thanks to some quick thinking by our ramp crew and the flexibility of our school contact, Mr. Rooney, we were able to set up on the basketball courts.

It's a good thing we set up half of the ramp on Wednesday night, because sure enough, it was raining consistently in the early hours of the day. Thankfully, the rain stopped around 7, so our ramp guys, Armand and Martine, were able to set the rest of the ramp up and dry it up real good before the first show. Once the athletes arrived on site, the clouds started to let up and out came the sun. It was perfect weather to do a show and the kids of Chatsworth high weren't disappointed. Special thanks to Mr Rooney for being open minded about the alternate set-up area and for selling that idea to the Principal instead of canceling. The students at Chatsworth High were obviously very appreciative as well. Tomorrow is the last week of the So Cal shows, then its back to Redding.

Friday April 29, 2005 - Agoura High School (Agoura, California)  The last show for week 7 was in Agoura Hills at Agoura High. This school is nestled in a great neighborhood just off the 101 freeway. We had an assembly on the field scheduled for the afternoon. At first we thought the students were going to stay in the bleachers, but we soon found out that we could have them come down on the field. Another interesting twist about today's show was the amount of time we had. Most of our assemblies are anywhere from 40 minutes to an hour at most. Today we had a hour and a half.

Once everyone got onto the field, we started the show and the students of Agoura wasted no time making lots of noise for the riders. I have often bragged in the past about how Glendale Senior High was the loudest school we have ever performed for. Well today, the students from Agoura High gave them a run for their money and may even have surpassed them a little on the noise factor. After the show we went into our daily trivia giveaway routine. Not only were these students loud, but they were also on the ball when it came to answering my questions about GOT MILK? and the Campaign For Tobacco Free Kids. We even learned a thing or two about smoking from some of the students who hung around to watch us tear down.

The tour also said goodbye to a few athletes today as well. This was the last GOT MILK? show for Anthony Furlong and we also saw Jimmy Walker head home today. Jimmy was one of the iron men on this tour. As far as the athletes were concerned, Jimmy and Gabe Weed were the only ones who did all 7 weeks of the tour. Gabe at least got to go home on the weekends since we were so close to Reno. Jimmy hadn't seen home since the morning of March 13th. We still have one more week to go to make-up some rain days from week two. So we're heading back up to norther California to try again. Next week starts in Auburn, talk to you then.
